China carried out a record 92 space launches in 2025, placing more than 300 satellites into orbit and marking major advances in crewed missions, deep-space exploration, and commercial spaceflight. The Shenzhou-20 mission set a new national record for the longest crewed stay in orbit, while Shenzhou-21 achieved a rapid 3.5-hour docking and China completed its first 16-day emergency launch for a crewed mission. Deep-space efforts progressed with the Tianwen-2 probe beginning China’s first asteroid sample-return mission, and commercial rocket launches increased significantly. In 2026, China plans tests for its crewed lunar landing program, the Chang’e-7 mission to the Moon’s south pole to search for water ice, and debut flights of new rocket models with recovery attempts.
