The China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU) criticized the EU’s recent decision to block Chinese companies from bidding on public medical device contracts worth over 5 million euros for five years under the International Procurement Instrument (IPI). The CCCEU expressed deep concern, saying the move contradicts the EU’s principles of openness and fairness and complicates China-EU trade relations. It argued that European firms have long had access to China’s market and warned that such unilateral actions risk escalating tensions and harming global trade. The CCCEU urged EU policymakers to reconsider the decision, emphasizing that Chinese firms have contributed positively to the EU economy.
