China’s UN envoy Fu Cong called on parties involved in the Middle East conflict to show restraint and work toward restoring regional stability.
Speaking at a United Nations Security Council debate, Fu said the Middle East remains at a critical point between war and peace, urging all sides to preserve ceasefire and negotiation efforts.
He stressed that the Palestinian issue remains central to regional tensions and should not be sidelined. China called on Israel to fully implement ceasefire agreements in Gaza Strip, allow humanitarian aid access, and meet its obligations under international law.
Fu also criticized Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank, saying it violates international law and worsens tensions.
Reaffirming support for the two-state solution, China said an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital remains the only viable path to resolving the conflict.
