China’s Special Envoy on the Middle East, Zhai Jun, urged the international community to take real steps toward achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace between Israel and Palestine through the two-state solution. Speaking at a UN conference, he stressed the urgent need for a full ceasefire in Gaza and the easing of the humanitarian crisis as prerequisites.
China reaffirmed its support for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Zhai warned against any attempts to alter Gaza’s status or encroach on the West Bank, saying such actions violate international law and undermine peace efforts.
China also emphasized the importance of Palestinian self-governance, internal unity, and building strong governance and economic resilience. Zhai called for a cooperative, regional approach to security, rejecting unilateral solutions, and reaffirmed that only the two-state solution can resolve the conflict. China pledged continued support for peace efforts and a roadmap for implementing the two-state solution.
