China defeated New Zealand 98-84 in the FIBA Asia Cup semifinals in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, advancing to the final for the first time in 10 years. Captain Zhao Rui led the team with 24 points, while Hu Jinqiu and rising star Wang Junjie also contributed key plays. China had earlier beaten South Korea 79-71 in the quarterfinals, ending a streak of early exits in recent tournaments.
In the other semifinal, Australia dominated Iran 92-48 and will face China in Sunday’s final as they aim to defend their championship.
