Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman met in Beijing on Wednesday to reaffirm their nations’ long-standing friendship and strengthen political trust. Wang expressed China’s full support for Bangladesh’s new government, emphasizing a commitment to assist in maintaining national stability and revitalizing the economy. He highlighted plans to align China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Bangladesh’s development goals, specifically focusing on infrastructure, trade, and emerging sectors like green development and the digital economy.
In response, Rahman described China as a trustworthy and indispensable partner, reiterating Bangladesh’s firm support for the One-China principle and the authority of the United Nations. The two leaders discussed expanding practical cooperation and encouraging Chinese investment to drive Bangladesh’s social and economic growth. Both parties stressed that their bilateral relationship remains independent of third-party influence and concluded the discussions with a joint press release aimed at elevating their strategic partnership to a new level.
