Over the past decade, China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have strengthened their collaboration in nuclear energy and its applications. This was emphasized by Liu Jing, Vice Chairman of the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA), during the second China-ASEAN Forum on Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Technology in Nanning. China has been providing ASEAN nations with dependable nuclear technology products, services, and solutions, alongside supporting professional training and the development of peaceful nuclear technology applications. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, expressed confidence that the forum will enhance practical cooperation between ASEAN and China in nuclear technology and clean energy.
The CAEA introduced a document outlining China’s solutions for “nuclear technology for a better home,” emphasizing applications in industry, agriculture, healthcare, environmental management, and public security. This forum, co-hosted by the CAEA and the Guangxi government, brought together experts, scholars, and representatives from governments, international organizations, enterprises, and universities from ASEAN and other Asian countries.
