The sixth meeting of the China-EU High-Level People-to-People Dialogue took place in Beijing, focusing on enhancing people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and the European Union (EU). Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin and European Commissioner Iliana Ivanova led the dialogue, discussing the importance of education in promoting sustainability and addressing setbacks in student mobility due to COVID-19. Both sides agreed to work within the dialogue framework to boost exchanges in education, science, technology, culture, media, sports, youth, and women. They emphasized the role of young people in combating climate change and pledged to support their efforts. The dialogue, themed “working together for a greener and more sustainable future,” marks a significant aspect of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the EU. Established in 2012, the people-to-people dialogue complements the China-EU High-Level Strategic Dialogue and China-EU High-Level Economic and Trade Dialogue. This year’s meeting was the first in-person session since 2017, following the China-EU Summit in December 2023.
