June 8 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar. To honor this milestone, a special condolence and support event titled “Support Together, Help Each Other” was held on June 7 at the MRTV compound in Nay Pyi Taw. The event was jointly organized by China Media Group (CMG) and Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV), offering emotional support to communities affected by the recent earthquake in Myanmar.
The event brought together over 500 guests, including media professionals, earthquake-affected residents, and high-level officials from both countries. Among them were Myanmar’s Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resentment Dr. Soe Win, Deputy Minister for Education Dr. Zaw Myint, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia.
Performances by media teams from CMG and MRTV featured uplifting songs in both Chinese and Burmese, celebrating the friendship and unity between the two nations. The music, described as a universal language of shared emotion, created a moving atmosphere of hope and resilience.
In his speech, U Maung Maung Ohn thanked China for being the first country to send rescue teams after the earthquake, providing the largest number of personnel and the most extensive support. He emphasized China’s consistent role in supporting Myanmar’s development and expressed his hope that the 75th anniversary would mark a new chapter in media cooperation and stronger bilateral friendship.
Ambassador Ms. Ma Jia highlighted the power of cultural exchange and media collaboration in strengthening bonds between people. She praised the courage of journalists from both countries who documented the aftermath of the earthquake, capturing powerful stories of recovery and solidarity.
As part of the event, CMG and the China Foundation for Rural Development donated essential relief supplies, including solar lamps and backpacks, to families in need. Ambassador Ma Jia also presented five Chinese audiovisual works to MRTV, including the documentaries Explore the Secret of China, Explore Technology, The Forbidden City, The Great Wall, and the feature film The Home in the Tree, all of which began airing on MRTV HD and MRTV News Channels from June 7.
