Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the need for China and India to manage differences and develop mutually beneficial cooperation during a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Vientiane, Laos. Wang highlighted the importance of dialogue, communication, and mutual trust between the two major developing and emerging economies amidst global challenges.
Wang stressed that improving China-India relations, which have a significant bilateral and global impact, should reflect their strategic structure as major developing countries and their ancient civilizations’ political wisdom. He urged both sides to work together to address global challenges and build positive mutual understanding, benefiting both nations and the Global South.
Jaishankar acknowledged the intertwined interests and historical significance of China and India, expressing India’s willingness to address differences constructively and restore positive relations. Both sides agreed to maintain peace in border areas, strengthen communication in international frameworks, and uphold the rights and interests of developing countries.’
