Healthcare cooperation between China and Germany has evolved from academic exchanges into broad partnerships covering public health, biomedical research and pharmaceuticals. A recent example was the 3rd Sino-Germany Cross-Border Pharmaceutical and Health Industry Cooperation & Exchange Conference held in Beijing in November 2025, where companies showcased innovations including AI-powered medical devices, natural medicines and probiotics. German firm HCP GmbH highlighted growing two-way market access, supporting German products in China while helping Chinese products enter Europe.
At the same time, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is gaining popularity in Germany. Anhui Jiren Pharmaceutical has introduced herbal products into German pharmacies and cafes, with nearly 200 TCM granule varieties approved under German quality standards. Chinese institutions have also deepened academic ties, with the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences signing cooperation agreements with leading German institutions such as Charité and University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. In addition, the Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong and TCM-Klinik Bad Kötzting have launched strategic collaboration to promote talent exchange, clinical integration of Chinese and Western medicine, and joint research.
