China has issued new guidelines to boost the brain-computer interface (BCI) industry, aiming for major technological breakthroughs and a complete industry and standards system by 2027. The plan, released by multiple state agencies, calls for wider adoption of BCI products in manufacturing, healthcare, and consumer sectors, and the creation of new applications and business models. By 2030, China seeks to build a secure, reliable BCI ecosystem, foster strong innovation, and develop two to three globally leading companies. Key tasks include advancing hardware and software research, especially in BCI chips.
