China has launched a Level-IV emergency response—the lowest of its four-tier system—for flooding in Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Chongqing, and Guizhou, as these regions brace for a new round of heavy rainfall.
The National Meteorological Center issued a yellow alert on Wednesday, forecasting torrential rains in multiple provinces, with some areas expected to receive up to 180 millimeters of rain within 24 hours.
Authorities have deployed three work teams to key flood-prone areas and urged local governments to intensify inspections, issue timely warnings, and evacuate residents if needed, particularly in mountainous, low-lying, and disaster-prone zones.
In response to severe flooding in Guangdong Province, the National Development and Reform Commission allocated 60 million yuan (approx. $8.3 million) to restore damaged infrastructure and public services.
