U.S. authorities are investigating the killing of right-wing youth leader Charlie Kirk, who was shot while addressing a crowd at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. The FBI described the attack as a “targeted event” and confirmed that the gunman, believed to be of university age, remains at large after fleeing into nearby woodland. Investigators have released grainy images of a person of interest wearing a black cap, sunglasses, jeans, and a long-sleeved shirt featuring an American flag design, and announced a $100,000 reward for information. The presumed murder weapon—a high-powered bolt-action rifle—was recovered in the area where the suspect escaped. President Donald Trump paid tribute to Kirk, calling him “a giant of his generation,” as the killing deepened political tensions in the country just months into Trump’s second term.
