Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol emphasized strengthening ties with China as essential for the country’s sustainable development amid global uncertainty. Speaking at the 30th anniversary of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Phnom Penh, Sun highlighted the long-standing “ironclad” friendship between the two nations, built on mutual respect, non-interference, and pragmatic cooperation.
Sun noted that Cambodia-China cooperation benefits ordinary citizens through job creation, skills training, and expanded opportunities. He also reaffirmed plans to advance the “Diamond Hexagon” framework and praised the Belt and Road Initiative for enhancing Cambodia’s connectivity and competitiveness, calling for broader, higher-quality Chinese investment.
