On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for stronger unity and cooperation among BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) to protect the rights and interests of developing nations.
Speaking at a BRICS national security meeting in Brazil, Wang said that in today’s changing world, more countries want to join BRICS and be part of its growing influence. He warned that using trade as a weapon and making international politics transactional only damages trust and global security.
Wang urged BRICS nations to lead the way in working together, supporting fair global development, and defending multilateral systems. He emphasized the need to stand up to powerful countries that act unfairly and to protect the development rights of poorer nations.
Other participants at the meeting agreed, saying BRICS should stay united, stand against bullying and unfair trade practices, and support peace, fairness, and justice in a more balanced, multipolar world.
