The body of former Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji was cremated in Beijing on Tuesday following his death on August 12 at age 98. President Xi Jinping and senior Communist Party leaders paid their final respects at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery, while former President Hu Jintao sent a wreath of condolence. Praised in an official obituary as a loyal communist fighter and outstanding statesman, Zhu was remembered for his pivotal leadership and high-ranking roles within the party during a key era of China’s political and economic history.
