U.S. President Joe Biden announced that authorities are investigating possible links between two recent incidents: a deadly truck attack in New Orleans and the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck outside a Trump hotel in Las Vegas.
On New Year’s Day, a U.S. Army veteran, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, drove a truck into a New Orleans crowd, killing 15 and injuring about 30, before being killed in a police shootout. The FBI is treating the attack as an act of terrorism and suspects Jabbar may not have acted alone.
Separately, a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump hotel in Las Vegas, killing the driver and injuring seven others. Authorities have not yet determined whether the explosion was an act of terrorism. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
