Trump announced plans to impose tariffs unless Mexico and Canada took action against drugs and migration, which could violate the US-Mexico-Canada trade deal. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated she and Trump discussed maintaining good relations but did not focus on tariffs. She highlighted Mexico’s strategy to address migration before it reached the U.S. border, contrary to Trump’s claim that Mexico agreed to stop migration entirely.
Biden reiterated his goal for a smooth transition and suggested Trump might reconsider some of his plans.
