The Belt and Road Green Innovation Conference 2026 was held in Hong Kong on Monday, bringing together nearly 300 officials, experts and industry leaders from more than 20 countries to discuss sustainable development and green transformation in the Global South.
China’s Minister of Ecology and Environment, Huang Runqiu, said China would continue promoting green and low-carbon development and strengthening international cooperation in environmental protection. He added that the Green Belt and Road Initiative aims to support countries in meeting their sustainable development needs. Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee said the city could help partner countries develop green infrastructure by providing services such as financing, project management and risk management.
