Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh resigned on Monday amid ongoing protests, as confirmed by army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman. In a national broadcast, Zaman announced the formation of an interim government and stated that a state of emergency would not be necessary if the situation improves.
