UnionPay International and WeChat Pay have introduced improved payment options for foreign visitors to China. Travelers using eight overseas e-wallets, like Bangkok Bank Mobile Banking and NAVER Pay, can now pay by scanning WeChat QR codes in China. This move is part of efforts to make visits easier for foreigners, alongside a new visa-free transit policy allowing stays of up to 10 days. Foreign credit cards, such as Visa and Mastercard, can also be linked to local payment platforms like Alipay and WeChat Pay. In November, foreign WeChat Pay transactions increased 6.4 times compared to July 2023.
