Police in Geneva fired tear gas on Sunday after protesters set fire to a vehicle and damaged windows at a United Nations office during demonstrations ahead of the G7 summit in neighboring France.
About 20,000 people took part in the march, which began peacefully before some protesters targeted symbols of capitalism and multilateralism, including a parked Tesla and the UN building. Similar protests were also held in Canada, where demonstrators voiced concerns over war, climate issues and comments by US President Donald Trump on Canadian sovereignty ahead of the G7 summit.
