Chinese animated film “All Wishes Come True” has become one of the biggest hits of this year’s summer movie season, earning more than 322 million yuan (about $47 million) in box office revenue, including pre-sales, just four days after release. Instead of retelling the famous legend of the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, the film explores their lives before they became legendary figures. It follows eight ordinary people who meet by chance and overcome challenges together, eventually discovering their strengths and becoming the Eight Immortals known in Chinese folklore. The movie combines traditional Chinese culture with modern storytelling, featuring visuals inspired by classical art and the mythical world of Penglai.
