Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched a new tool on Tuesday to address AI hallucinations, where AI models provide unreliable responses. The tool, Automated Reasoning checks, cross-references customer-provided information to validate model outputs for accuracy. Available through AWS’ Bedrock service, it determines if a model’s response is correct by comparing it to a “ground truth” set by the customer. If the model is likely incorrect, it shows the correct answer alongside the potential mistake. AWS claims this is the first tool specifically designed to combat hallucinations, with PwC already using it for AI assistants. However, the company has not provided data on its reliability. Other companies like Microsoft and Google have also introduced similar features to detect and correct AI errors.
