Warner Music and the estate of Edith Piaf have announced a new biopic on the legendary French singer’s life. The film, titled “Edith,” will utilize artificial intelligence to recreate Piaf’s voice and image, allowing her to narrate her own story. The AI technology will analyze hundreds of voice and image clips, some over 80 years old, to capture Piaf’s unique style and enhance the authenticity and emotional impact of her story. Original recordings will be used for her greatest hits. The 90-minute film will span the years 1920 to 1960, moving between Paris and New York, and will reveal previously unknown aspects of Piaf’s life. The announcement follows the success of the Beatles’ recent release, “Now And Then,” which used AI to isolate John Lennon’s vocals from a 1978 tape, leading to the band’s first UK number one single in 54 years. The release date for “Edith” has not been scheduled yet.
