Artificial intelligence company Anthropic, the developer of the Claude chatbot, has confidentially filed for an initial public offering (IPO), marking a major step in Silicon Valley’s rapidly accelerating AI investment race.
A confidential filing means the company has submitted its paperwork to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for review without immediately disclosing financial details. Anthropic said the timing and size of the offering will depend on market conditions and regulatory review outcomes.
The move comes shortly after the company completed a major funding round that valued it at nearly $1 trillion, reflecting strong investor demand for AI firms competing at the highest level of the industry. The company, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers, has positioned itself as a safety-focused rival in the generative AI space.
If successful, Anthropic’s IPO would place it among a wave of major tech listings expected in the coming period, alongside other AI and infrastructure firms seeking massive capital to expand computing capacity and model development.
