National political advisors have been urged to pool wisdom and strength to ensure a strong start to China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030). Wang Huning, chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference National Committee, delivered a work report to around 2,100 advisors in Beijing at the opening of its annual session, marking the start of this year’s “two sessions” of China’s top legislative and political advisory bodies.
Over the past year, the CPPCC National Committee received 5,992 proposals, with 5,061 officially filed and a response rate of 99.9 percent. Policy recommendations also generated 1,057 instructions from national leaders and 201 feedback reports from local governments and departments. Wang said the CPPCC focused on advancing Chinese modernization through consultation and policy advice, holding various activities including special consultative meetings, expert consultations and macroeconomic analysis symposiums.
The committee also expanded international engagement, organizing 210 exchange events with 1,781 participants from 129 countries and international organizations. In addition, 168 visitors, including European diplomatic envoys and young diplomats from Singapore, were invited to visit the CPPCC National Committee.
As 2026 marks the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan, Wang said the CPPCC will conduct further research and consultations aligned with key national priorities, including economic development, technological innovation, reform and opening up, social development and people’s well-being, while continuing to reflect public opinion to support policymaking.
