Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said improving China-Canada relations serves the shared interests of both countries and is the right choice for the future. During talks with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in Manila, Wang said bilateral ties have continued to improve, with trade growing 16% year on year in the first half of the year. He noted that Canadian products such as canola and beef have returned to the Chinese market, while Chinese electric vehicles have entered Canada. Anand said China remains one of Canada’s most important bilateral relationships and expressed willingness to expand cooperation in areas including trade, energy, finance and cultural exchanges while managing differences through dialogue.
