About 400 mln people worldwide have had long COVID-19

New research published in Nature Medicine reveals that approximately 400 million people worldwide are affected by long COVID-19. The economic impact of this condition is estimated at $1 trillion annually, which is about 1% of the global economy. The study, led by Ziyad Al-Aly and other experts, provides a comprehensive overview of long COVID-19 effects and aims to guide future policy and research. Key findings include that about 6% of adults globally have experienced long COVID-19, many have not fully recovered, and effective treatment remains a significant challenge.
