At least nine people were killed and about 30 injured after a powerful explosion ripped through the Nowgam police station in Srinagar, Indian-controlled Kashmir, late Friday. The blast triggered a fire that engulfed the building and nearby vehicles. Local media said the explosion occurred as police and forensic teams were examining explosive material transferred from Faridabad for a Delhi car-bomb investigation. Most of the victims were police and forensic personnel. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement. The incident comes days after a deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed at least eight people and injured 20 more, with later reports placing the death toll at 13.
