China emphasized the need for inclusive societies and the elimination of prejudice and discrimination against disabled individuals. During a side meeting of the 55th Human Rights Council, Chen Xu, head of the Chinese Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, discussed China’s commitment to promoting the rights of persons with disabilities. He proposed three key measures: promoting inclusiveness and eliminating discrimination, accelerating the construction of barrier-free facilities, and enhancing employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for disabled individuals. Chen highlighted China’s efforts, including the implementation of over 90 laws protecting the rights of disabled people and the establishment of subsidy systems and programs to support their well-being.
