Two attacks in Nigeria’s Benue State have left at least 30 people dead. On Friday, armed bandits killed 13 traders in Anwase village, Kwande area, after storming the local market. Earlier, on February 3, 17 people, including a police officer, were killed in an attack on Mbaikyor market.
The region has seen rising violence in recent months, often involving farmers and herders competing for land and resources. While described as communal clashes, experts note the conflict is fueled by land disputes, climate pressures, and widespread small arms proliferation.
