China will mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Asia with a major military parade in Beijing on September 3, attended by 26 foreign leaders at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. Confirmed guests include Russia’s Vladimir Putin, North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and Myanmar’s Min Aung Hlaing, among others. In total, leaders and representatives from dozens of countries and international organizations will take part. China has also invited foreign veterans, contributors to the wartime effort, and their families, with 50 guests from 14 countries attending. A gala at the Great Hall of the People will cap the commemorations that evening.
