China Media Group (CMG) announced it will strictly protect broadcasting copyright for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics within the Chinese mainland and Macao after securing exclusive full-media and sub-licensing rights through an agreement with the International Olympic Committee. CMG has authorized China Mobile subsidiary Migu to provide live, delayed, and on-demand coverage of the Games, while Beijing Radio and Television Station’s Sports and Leisure Channel has been granted television broadcast rights, excluding new media platforms.
CMG stated that any organization or individual without authorization is prohibited from using Olympic audiovisual content or broadcast signals across any platform, including television, radio, internet, mobile networks, streaming services, or public screenings. The organization also warned against unfair competition practices, such as unauthorized promotional or marketing activities tied to the Games. CMG confirmed it has launched a dedicated copyright protection campaign and will take legal action against infringement. The Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics are scheduled to take place from February 6 to 22, featuring about 2,900 athletes competing for 116 gold medals across multiple locations in Italy.
