Twenty U.S. states, mostly Democrat-led, have sued the Trump administration for cutting funding from a disaster relief program. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Boston, seeks to block the termination of billions in grants intended for infrastructure projects that protect against natural disasters. The states argue that FEMA had no authority to cancel the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program, which had been approved by Congress. FEMA is also facing criticism for its response to recent deadly floods in Texas, which have claimed over 130 lives.
