The 137th China Import and Export Fair, also called the Canton Fair, ended on Monday in Guangdong Province. This year, more than 288,000 overseas buyers attended — the highest number ever and a 17.3% increase from the last event.
Among them, 171,750 were first-time visitors. Buyers from countries involved in the Belt and Road initiative made up nearly 65% of all international attendees.
In addition to the in-person event, over 527,000 people joined online from 229 countries and regions.
The fair displayed 4.55 million products, including over 1 million new items, 880,000 eco-friendly products, and 320,000 smart technologies.
A new feature this year was the service robotics zone, where 46 Chinese companies showcased more than 500 advanced robots used in 60 different industries.
First held in 1957, the Canton Fair is China’s oldest and biggest international trade event, often seen as a key indicator of the country’s foreign trade.
