At least 12 people, including three children, died after a landslide sank two docked boats at the port of Iparia in Peru’s Ucayali region on Monday. Authorities say about 50 passengers were on one of the vessels, with around 40 people still missing and 25 injured. Rescue efforts are being hindered by strong currents, whirlpools and fog during the flood season. Families and officials are working to confirm the number of missing passengers as the navy assists in the ongoing search.
