China and India held the 24th round of boundary talks on Tuesday between Chinese Special Representative Wang Yi and Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The two sides reviewed progress since their leaders’ Kazan meeting, noting stability along the border, and reached a 10-point consensus.
They agreed to maintain peace in boundary areas, work toward a fair and mutually acceptable settlement under the 2005 guiding principles, and set up new expert groups under the WMCC to push forward demarcation talks and improve border management. Both sides will expand general-level talks to the eastern and central sections in addition to the west, and use diplomatic and military channels to manage tensions.
They also agreed to enhance cooperation on cross-boundary rivers, with China pledging to share emergency flood data, and to reopen three traditional border trade markets. The 25th round of talks will take place in China in 2026.
