Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for new achievements in the country’s development as China marks the 90th anniversary of the Red Army’s Long March victory. Speaking at a ceremony in Beijing on Thursday, Xi said remembering history was important for building a brighter future. He also led participants in a moment of silence to honor those who died during the Long March and other revolutionary struggles.
From October 1934 to October 1936, the Red Army marched through more than 10 provinces, an event Xi said had a lasting impact on China’s revolution and its goal of national rejuvenation.
