The United Nations World Food Programme has warned that funding shortages will force major cuts to food assistance in Gaza as winter approaches. Around 500,000 people are expected to lose their monthly food aid, while daily hot meal distributions will be reduced from 250,000 to 150,000.
Claire Nevill, head of communications at WFP Palestine, said the cuts come at a critical time, as most of Gaza’s population remains displaced and many families depend on humanitarian assistance. She said the agency has received less than half the funding it received from donors over the previous two years, urging the international community to provide more support as the humanitarian crisis continues.
