Fighting between Saudi-led coalition forces and Yemen’s Houthi group continued on Wednesday, with the Houthis claiming missile and drone attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport and Saudi oil facilities. The group also threatened further strikes deep inside Saudi Arabia. Both sides reported attacks and casualties, while the Red Cross warned that hospitals across Yemen were struggling to treat a growing number of wounded people.
The United Nations World Food Programme said fighting had cut off humanitarian aid to more than 600,000 people in the government-held city of Taiz, including over 200,000 women and children. Meanwhile, tensions continued around the Strait of Hormuz. The US military said it had destroyed an Iranian-affiliated vessel in the Gulf of Oman, while Iran’s Revolutionary Guard warned it was prepared to respond to any renewed attacks with greater force.
