The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised its forecast for global economic growth in 2026 to 3.1%, up 0.1 percentage point from its July projection. In its latest World Economic Outlook report, the IMF said global growth is expected to slow from 3.5% in 2025 to 3.1% in 2026 before recovering to 3.4% in 2027.
The IMF said growing investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure is helping offset economic pressures from the Middle East conflict and rising energy costs. Global inflation is projected to increase from 4.1% in 2025 to 4.7% in 2026 before easing to 4.1% in 2027.
