Saudi-Houthi strikes continue as Yemen’s humanitarian crisis deepens

Yemen’s Houthi group said on Monday that it had launched a ballistic missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and a drone strike on an air base in southwestern Saudi Arabia. However, the Saudi-led coalition said it had intercepted and destroyed the missile heading toward Riyadh. The attacks came amid escalating exchanges between Saudi-led forces and the Houthis, with both sides reporting strikes and casualties.

Meanwhile, Iran offered to help facilitate dialogue between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis as the United Nations warned that the fighting was worsening Yemen’s humanitarian crisis. Since August, around 216,000 people have been displaced nationwide, including more than 172,000 in Taiz. The UN also reported at least 54 civilian deaths and 171 injuries, and called on all parties to protect civilians and allow humanitarian aid to reach those in need.
