An attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday killed 12 people and injured 309 others, according to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation. The airport temporarily suspended operations for damage assessments and safety checks. The attack came amid escalating exchanges of strikes between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi group. Houthi-run media reported new Saudi air and missile strikes on areas under Houthi control, including Sanaa International Airport.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said he would soon decide whether the United States would join Saudi strikes against the Houthis. Yemen’s government forces also reported more than 1,900 strikes in the past 24 hours, claiming over 1,150 Houthi fighters had been neutralized, although the figures could not be independently verified. The renewed fighting marks a major escalation in Yemen’s long-running conflict, which had largely eased following a UN-brokered truce in 2022.
