Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a 90-minute phone call on Friday, discussing efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict, global energy markets and the situation in Iran, according to the Kremlin. Russia said it was ready to supply diesel fuel to the US and other markets. Trump also announced plans for large-scale Russian diesel deliveries and expressed confidence that the supplies would help lower global prices. Following the call, Russia said it would lift restrictions on diesel exports earlier than planned, while the US Treasury issued a temporary license allowing Russian-origin diesel to be sold and imported globally.
Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov described the conversation as friendly and substantive. He said Putin discussed the conflict in Ukraine and accused Kyiv of escalating attacks and undermining the possibility of resuming peace talks. Ushakov also claimed that Russian forces maintained the initiative on the battlefield.
