UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for the ceasefire in Gaza to become permanent ahead of the third anniversary of the October 7, 2023 attacks. He said the conflict has caused enormous suffering and urged all sides to fully implement their ceasefire commitments and move toward the next phase.Guterres also called for humanitarian aid to reach Gaza on a larger scale and stressed the need to respect international law. He said the anniversary should bring renewed efforts toward lasting peace, allowing Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side in peace and security.
