China finished the 2026 Asian Games with 169 gold medals, setting a new record for the most golds it has won at an Asian Games held outside China. The previous record was 165, set in Doha in 2006. China added golds in golf, breaking and rhythmic gymnastics, while Hong Kong’s Coleman Wong also made history by becoming the first Hong Kong tennis player to win an Asian Games gold medal.
