China’s National Day holiday is seeing a major travel boom, with longer trips and more travelers visiting multiple destinations. Railways carried 19.27 million passengers on Saturday, while bookings for flights to two or more cities rose 70%. Travelers are also seeking new experiences, including autumn scenery, village traditions, cultural attractions and film-related tourism. At the same time, cinemas, shopping areas and local governments are offering discounts, vouchers and other activities to encourage holiday spending.
