The 15th UN Conference on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice opened in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, bringing together more than 5,100 delegates from 119 countries, including over 40 justice ministers. The conference is focusing on new forms of transnational crime, the use of cyber technology and artificial intelligence, and the digital transformation of justice systems. Participants also adopted the Abu Dhabi Declaration, which calls for stronger international cooperation and greater use of technology and early intervention to prevent crime.
China’s Justice Minister He Rong said China supports multilateral cooperation and the UN’s central role in global crime prevention and criminal justice. The Chinese delegation also presented its experience in juvenile protection, legal aid and criminal justice reform, including programs aimed at preventing youth crime and helping young offenders return to society. UN officials highlighted cooperation with China in these areas, particularly efforts involving young people and legal aid.
